12 people were killed and injured in an accident on Highway No. 1 in Faryab.
Security officials in Faryab province have confirmed a deadly traffic accident on Highway No. 1.
According to Maulvi Abdullah Muradi, a Taliban police spokesman in Faryab, a pickup truck collided with a cargo truck at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the “Kotal Katakam” area between Maimana city and Khwaja Sabzposh district.
As a result of the accident, six people were killed and six others, including women and children, were injured. The injured were transferred to the provincial hospital in Maimana city by Taliban forces.
Experts say the number of traffic accidents has increased in recent months, especially in northern Afghanistan.
They consider poor traffic management, lack of standard infrastructure, and the Taliban’s disregard for the condition of roads and road safety to be the main factors behind these incidents. In addition to the carelessness of drivers, the current government’s lack of planning also leads to the recurrence of bloody accidents.
