Reliable sources in Paktika province have confirmed that at least 27 people have been killed and injured following airstrikes by Pakistani forces on parts of the province on Friday evening.

According to these sources, these attacks targeted the Argoon and Barmal districts, resulting in 12 “martyrs” and 15 others injured.

Sources added that women and children were also among the victims of these attacks. In addition, reports indicate that a number of members of the Afghanistan Cricket Board are also among the dead.

Local sources confirm that eight cricket players were killed and four others were injured in these attacks.

According to sources, these players were on their way back to Argoon district after finishing a local tournament in the center of Paktika when they were targeted by the airstrike.

The Taliban have not yet officially commented on the matter, but sources had previously reported several retaliatory attacks in response to Pakistani drone airstrikes on the Arghun and Barmal districts.
