45 Jeribs of Forest Burned in Nuristan.
The Taliban governor’s office in Nuristan has announced that a forest fire in Kamdish district destroyed 45 jeribs of woodland.
Faridun Samim, spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Nuristan, said on Thursday, (November 13, 2025), that the fire was brought under control after four days of effort with the cooperation of local residents.
According to the spokesperson, the main cause of the fire was the negligence of local people. He added that similar incidents have occurred in various parts of Nuristan in recent years, each time resulting in the loss of dozens of jeribs of forest.
Meanwhile, environmental observers say the lack of firefighting equipment, insufficient attention from local authorities, and the absence of preventive programs have contributed to the increasing destruction of forests in the province. They believe that the Taliban administration lacks the capacity to effectively manage environmental crises, including large-scale forest fires.
