The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that the agency’s emergency aid, including thousands of tents, has been sent to nearly 6,000 needy families in Kunar province.

The agency wrote in a message on its X page on Saturday, September 6, that the distribution of aid is being carried out in cooperation with its partner agency, CHA, and the main focus is on vulnerable and displaced families.

According to the commissioner, aid convoys have also been able to access some of the most difficult and remote areas of Kunar.

The items distributed include tents and other urgently needed items that will be given to homeless and affected families.

This comes while international organizations and aid agencies had previously warned that people in the affected areas are in dire need of food, medicine, and shelter, and that continued aftershocks and the unstable situation could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the province.
