The Green Movement, led by Amrullah Saleh, warned in a statement that “the expansion of the influence of the Pashtun population in northern Afghanistan after the Doha agreement and the return of the Taliban to power poses a complex threat to Russia and other regional countries that have strategic interests in Central Asia, bringing about challenging changes.”
According to the movement, the intensification of radicalism and extremism with the expansion of the Taliban in northern Afghanistan is worrying. With the dominance of the Taliban, whose members are “95 percent” Pashtun, radical elements have moved closer to the borders of Central Asia.
The statement said that with the withdrawal of the United States, the power vacuum in favor of China, Turkey and Arab countries has widened and Russia’s influence has weakened.
According to the movement, the risk of the penetration of extremist ideologies and the revival of the Taliban’s ties with radical groups in the North Caucasus, as in the 1990s, has also increased.
This is while the Taliban have recently been seeking to relocate carriers under the guise of refugees in the northern provinces of Afghanistan.
