The Afghan national team wrestlers in the traditional and Koresh disciplines shone brightly in the world competitions in Uzbekistan and won two gold and silver medals.
According to the officials of the Sambo-Koreesh Federation; In these competitions, which were held in the under-18 age category, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Omar won the gold medal in the 65 kg weight category by defeating opponents from Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan and won the championship title.
Also, Javed Karimi, another member of the national team, won the silver medal by defeating opponents from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan and stood on the podium of honor.
In addition, five other Afghan wrestlers came in fifth place with a worthy effort; the impressive presence of the Afghan national team in this event once again demonstrated the capabilities of the country’s athletes.
The World Karate Championships were held in Nukus, Uzbekistan, and Afghan athletes, coaches, and referees played a prominent role in it.
