A national conference entitled “The Future of Afghanistan” began in Stockholm, Sweden, with the participation of a number of Afghan political, civil and academic figures.
The meeting was initiated by the Lazurd Yuli Center for Research and Strategy in collaboration with the Afghanistan Citizen Party and aims to discuss and exchange views on the current political crisis in Afghanistan and the future of the power structure in the country.
According to the organizers, the main focus of the meeting is to review the new UN plan called the “Mosaic Plan for Afghanistan”;
The plan aims to facilitate national dialogue and support a process that can lead to a comprehensive political structure.
Ms. Alia Yilmaz, Director of the Lapis Lazuli Yuli Centre; In his opening remarks, he pointed to the critical situation of Afghanistan’s political system, saying the country was facing the exclusion of people from the political scene and the collapse of democratic institutions.
He examined the role of international institutions, especially the United Nations, in overcoming the crisis.
The conference, held on Saturday, is attended by a number of prominent figures from the Afghan diaspora community, especially Uzbek activists.
The aim of the meeting is to create a space for free dialogue among Afghans abroad on possible ways for Afghanistan’s political future.
