With only one day left for Eid al-Adha, delays in the payment of salaries have caused severe congestion at banks in Khost province.
Local sources say that government employees, especially teachers, have not received their salaries for two months and are now rushing to banks to receive them.
According to the sources, who spoke to the media on Wednesday, 14th of Joza, long queues have formed in front of banks in recent days and this pressure has also caused the ATM system of some exchange offices to malfunction.
Although the Taliban have deposited two months’ salaries of teachers into their bank accounts ahead of Eid, the lack of proper management and widespread congestion have prevented many teachers from receiving their money.
This is while the delay in paying salaries to government employees has become a recurring issue since the Taliban came to power and has caused livelihood problems for families in various cases.
