The fourth conference “The Turkic World and the Elders of Turkestan; The Path and Legacy of Khwaja Ahmad Yesavi” was held in the city of Turkestan, Kazakhstan.
This scientific and cultural meeting entitled “The Tomb of Ahmad Yesavi; The Spiritual Heart of the Turkic World” was held at the International Turkish-Kazakh Ahmet Yesevi University in cooperation with several cultural institutions from Turkey and Kazakhstan.
At the conference, researchers from Turkey and Kazakhstan gave speeches on the influence of Khoja Ahmet Yesevi on Sufism, the role of the Yesevi tradition in the culture and identity of the Turks, and the religious situation of Anatolia before the Seljuk era.
Khoja Ahmet Yesevi is one of the prominent figures of Sufism and an influential figure in the spiritual culture of the Turkic-speaking people. His tomb in Turkestan is known as a symbol of the common identity of the Turkic world.
The previous three sessions of this conference were held in Baku, Bishkek, and Almaty.
The aim of these meetings is to examine and introduce the intellectual, religious, and cultural heritage of Khoja Ahmet Yesevi and to expand scientific cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries.
