Afghanistan’s ambassador to Italy, Khalid Zakaria, warned of the active presence of more than 26 terrorist groups in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, saying there was a possibility of a larger attack than 9/11 in Europe or the United States.
Zakaria called Afghanistan a “haven for global terrorism” and said the Taliban and al-Qaeda had become closer, while ISIS Khorasan was present in northern and southern Afghanistan. He added that groups such as the Tajik Taliban and Boko Haram are also active.
“The Taliban have never been moderate and do not believe in universal values and international order,” he said, referring to the Taliban’s ideological structure.
He said the Afghan embassy in Italy continues to refuse to cooperate with the Taliban and provides limited consular services despite restrictions; But the embassy’s documents are invalid in the eyes of the Taliban
