Former US President Donald Trump, in a series of threatening messages on the social media platform Truth, called on the Islamic Republic to “unconditional surrender” and claimed that the US has complete control over Iranian airspace.
Trump also said that he was aware of the exact location of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, and described him as an “easy target,” but added that he had no plans to target him at this time. He warned that if civilians or American forces were attacked, “his patience would run out.”
Hours after these statements, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened the US in a harsh statement with attacks on its military bases in the region. The IRGC announced that if the US or its Western allies use regional bases against Iran, these military centers will be “leveled to the ground” throughout the Middle East. The IRGC also warned that the consequences of any military action will be the responsibility of the countries hosting these bases.
The increase in these verbal threats from both sides has further increased concerns about the possibility of a large-scale military conflict in the region.
