Kandahar – A man in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province has killed his pregnant wife after a verbal argument.
Local sources told the media that the incident took place on Monday, June 16, in the center of the district and that the victim, named “Sayeda,” was about six months pregnant.
According to reports, the woman’s husband hanged her with a rope and took her life.
So far, local Taliban officials in Kandahar have not reacted to the incident.
This is the second case of a wife being murdered by her husband in the province in the past week. Last week, a man in the fifth district of Kandahar city stabbed his wife to death and then beheaded her.
With the increase in such violence, concerns have been raised about the spread of family murders in Afghanistan. Many of these cases are rooted in domestic violence and the lack of legal protection for women.
