Continuation of revenge attacks and increase in criminal crimes under the shadow of the Taliban

In continuation of revenge attacks by the Taliban intelligence forces, a former general of the republican government was arrested in Kabul.

Local sources say that Mohammad Alam, a resident of Panjshir province and former director of the counter-narcotics department in this province, was arrested by the Taliban this week after returning from Iran.

According to the sources, General Alam retired in 2018 and took refuge in Iran after the fall of the republic. The Taliban have not yet provided any explanation for the reason for the arrest of this retired soldier.

This is while numerous reports of the arrest, torture and even murder of former soldiers by the Taliban in different parts of the country had previously been published; a process that continues despite the group’s initial commitments of a “general amnesty”.

On the other hand, security sources in Faryab report another criminal incident. Unknown gunmen in the city of Andkhoy shot dead a civilian named Nasim, who was a seller of shirikha.

The reason for this murder is still unclear, and the Taliban, like many similar cases, have not reacted in any way.

These two incidents occur in a situation where a new wave of targeted killings, kidnappings, armed robberies, and mysterious crimes is spreading throughout Afghanistan;

A situation that, according to many residents, is due to the lack of rule of law, the weakness of judicial institutions, and the discriminatory policies of the ruling forces.
