Taliban: Most military vehicles are broken down and there is no budget for repairs.

In the latest sign of administrative incompetence and structural corruption in the Taliban government, a member of the group has admitted to the widespread breakdown of military vehicles and the lack of funds to repair them.

A video that reached the media on Thursday, July 9, shows a group of Taliban members riding on the back of a worn-out Ranger and talking about the lack of facilities. In the video, the vehicle in question is seen producing thick black smoke and causing severe air pollution.

In the video, the Taliban say that they are heading towards Tagab district of Kapisa province for a tour.

Experts say this situation is a direct result of widespread corruption and mismanagement within the Taliban. While this group has pocketed billions of dollars in public funds and foreign aid and extorts people in various forms on a daily basis, it cannot even maintain its simplest military equipment.

Financial corruption, lack of planning, and instrumental use of power reveal the true face of a military that came to power with the promise of “Islamic justice,” but is now facing a crisis of legitimacy, inefficiency, and structural collapse at every turn.
