Increased insecurity in the northeast; Family massacre in Baharak, Badakhshan.
Local sources in Badakhshan province report the killing of three members of a family as a result of an armed attack.
According to sources, the incident took place last night in the Baharak district of the province and the victims include Pahlavan Nemat, his young daughter and his young grandson. The armed perpetrators shot the family and then fled the scene.
Reports indicate that after committing the murder, the attackers stole 300,000 Afghanis from the victims’ house. It is said that Pahlavan Nemat was active in the field of buying and selling potatoes and had received this amount the day before for a deal.
No Taliban security agency has reacted to this crime so far.
The incident comes as cases of murder, armed robbery and kidnapping have increased in recent weeks in various provinces, with the Taliban government accused of being incapable of preventing these crimes or of being involved in them.
Citizens are concerned that the lack of accountability of security institutions and the rule of law have paved the way for the further spread of organized crime.
