Continued pressure on women; Taliban arrest women in Kabul
At least 100 women have been arrested by Taliban forces in Kabul, local sources said in a wave of repression of women in Afghanistan.
The arrests were made on Wednesday, September 25, in the Shahr-e-Naw area and its surroundings. According to sources, women were collected from the streets, markets and even hospitals and transferred to the detention centers of the Taliban’s Ministry of Enjoining Good.
Sources say most of the women were arrested despite fully observing the Islamic veil, and no specific reason has been given.
A video that has reached the media shows a number of terrified women surrounded by Taliban armed forces; The scenes have again raised concerns about the increased pressure on women.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil has not yet provided any explanation.
Over the past three years, the agency’s officers have repeatedly invaded the privacy of citizens and imposed an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, especially on women and girls, by imposing extensive restrictions.
