Taliban cadres violently disrupted graduation celebrations at Faryab University.
Local sources in Faryab province confirm that officers of the Taliban’s Department of Encouraging Righteousness and Preventing Evil have arrested a number of Faryab University students during their graduation ceremony.
According to information received by social media, these students, who graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Faryab University, were insulted, humiliated and beaten by Taliban officers for wearing a tie at the ceremony, and a number of them have been arrested.
Local sources say that Taliban officers entered the ceremony without any official permission or order and tried to prevent the program from continuing with violent behavior.
Meanwhile, other sources at Faryab University say that the Taliban have also prevented professors from attending the ceremony. According to them, Taliban officials have warned university officials that if any professor’s picture from the graduation ceremony is published on social media, the offending person will be dismissed from his/her post.
Several days after this incident, Taliban officials have not yet provided any explanation or reaction in this regard.
