Bloody clash between Taliban commanders in Baghlan; 7 killed and more than 20 injured.

Local sources in Baghlan province report a bloody clash between two senior Taliban commanders in the New Baghlan district; an incident that resulted in the death of at least seven people and the injury of more than twenty people, including a woman.

According to the sources, the clash occurred three days ago, on July 22, in the Zikr Khel area, and the reason for it was stated to be severe disagreements between Taliban commanders over the division of looted property from government and private properties after the fall of the previous government.

The individuals involved in the incident have been identified as Mullah Nisar Ahmad, the former Taliban governor in Kunduz province, and Mullah Aziz Haqyar, the former deputy governor of the Taliban in Baghlan. Both commanders are from the Gadi tribe and have previously been accused of looting and misusing local resources.

Sources added that a number of the injured were local civilians who had entered the conflict zone to mediate, but were targeted by scattered gunfire.

The conflict occurred at a time when the Taliban usually tries to severely censor reports on their internal conflicts and disputes. The lack of independent media and the blockage of the free flow of information in areas under Taliban control have led to such incidents receiving less coverage.
