Murder of a young girl on the eve of a wedding in Faryab.
Local sources in Faryab say that a young girl was murdered in Yangi Qala village of Khwaja Sabzposh district.
According to sources, the incident took place last week and was committed by the victim’s cousin who strangled her in a garden.
The girl was scheduled to get married soon, but her family opposed her marriage to her cousin and had engaged her to someone else.
Taliban officials in Faryab have not commented on the matter so far. After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, violence against women and girls has increased significantly in different parts of the country.
