Khalilzad criticizes Pakistan’s policy towards the Taliban.
Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US special representative for Afghanistan, has criticized the holding of a meeting of Taliban opponents in Pakistan.
On Saturday, August 15, he wrote on the social network X that the meeting will be held in Pakistan on the 15th and 16th of this month and that some participants are calling for the violent overthrow of the Taliban.
Khalilzad has emphasized that Afghan citizens have the right to express their political views, but Pakistan’s apparent support for them is “unwise, irresponsible and provocative.”
According to him, relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are currently facing deep distrust and such actions will only worsen the situation.
The former US representative did not provide further details about the participants of the meeting.
