Mujahid: Taliban leader’s salary is 20,000 Afghanis.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in an interview with a local media outlet that Taliban leaders receive a monthly salary of 20,000 Afghanis and work “until midnight.”
He added that Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada has traveled to several provinces and met with people.
Mujahid said Haibatullah is not interested in the media and does not want to appear in the picture. According to him, the Taliban leader has a “simple life” and it is easy to meet him.
The Taliban spokesman also confirmed that Abdul Rahman, Haibatullah’s eldest son, carried out a suicide attack in Helmand during the republican era. He said that the Taliban leader’s other children are now studying.
These remarks come at a time when a large part of the public opinion in Afghanistan and a number of politicians believe that Mullah Haibatullah has not been alive for years and that the Taliban have only released one photo of him.
