Local sources in Faryab say that a 70-year-old man committed suicide in Maimana city, the provincial capital.
The incident took place on Wednesday, August 20, in the “Bibi Ayina” area of Maimana city. The deceased was named Nazir and was a resident of “Hazar Sam” village in Pashtun Kot district.
According to sources, the man hanged himself inside the toilet of his house. His relatives have cited severe economic problems and poverty as the main reason for this act.
Reports show that under the Taliban rule, the economic and livelihood situation of the people has become extremely critical and increasing poverty and unemployment have faced many families with serious problems; a situation that, according to sources, creates the basis for such bitter incidents.
