Taliban figure released after month of detention.

Abdul Sami Ghaznavi, a prominent Taliban figure and teacher at jihadi schools, was released from the group’s prison after about a month of detention.

Ghaznavi has been known among the Taliban as an ideological and jihadi teacher for nearly two decades.

She was arrested in early September after she called “jihad in Pakistan” obligatory and said it was permissible to educate girls and women, contrary to the Taliban leader’s official position.

His official social media page confirmed his release on Wednesday, saying he would resume his educational activities soon.

Ghaznavi’s release comes as her differing views on women’s education and her stance on Pakistan have been widely reflected inside and outside the Taliban.
