Sources: The Taliban education director in Panjshir appoints illiterate people in exchange for bribes.
Local sources in Panjshir say that the Taliban education director in the province is hiring new people as school principals in exchange for a “fifty thousand Afghanis bribe and a party.”
According to these sources, some of these principals cannot even read or write, and their hiring process is done with a “secret understanding and commitment” between the two parties.
The sources have emphasized that these changes have already been implemented in several schools in the districts of Dara, Hesa Awal, Rekha, and also Bazarak, the center of Panjshir, the sources emphasized. These non-standard appointments have caused serious concern among the local people.
Panjshir residents warn that hiring illiterate and inexperienced people in teaching positions could have serious consequences for the future of students.
These concerns are raised at a time when the quality of education in Afghan schools has reached its lowest level since the Taliban returned to power.
