A traffic accident in Badakhshan killed 11 people, including a woman and 3 children.
Badakhshan Police Headquarters officials have confirmed that 11 people, including a woman and three children, lost their lives as a result of a traffic accident in the Drayim district of the province.
The accident occurred when a pickup truck veered off the road in the Zarak area and fell into a valley. Among the victims were seven members of a family, which made the tragedy even more painful.
According to Ehsanullah Kamgar, spokesman for the Taliban’s Badakhshan police command, the main reason for the incident was driver negligence.
However, experts and local residents say that the lack of adequate monitoring of road conditions, the lack of traffic signs, disorder on highways, and the lack of effective presence of responsible forces are among the main factors for the recurrence of such tragedies.
Despite claiming to have complete control of the country, the Taliban have failed to establish an effective structure for traffic management.
This incident was not the only bloody traffic incident on Monday; in Ghazni, six people were also killed when a car overturned on the Kabul-Kandahar highway, and another accident occurred on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.
Statistics show that in the past month, more than 100 people have died in traffic accidents on the Kabul-Herat highway alone.
The persistence of these deadly incidents highlights the Taliban’s apparent weakness in managing traffic and ensuring road safety.
