Marshal Dostum: Martyrdom is an honor and death in bed is a disgrace for us.
Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, leader and founder of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, in a message on the occasion of Martyr’s Week, honored the memory of the victims of the war and the struggle for freedom and justice in the country and emphasized the continuation of their path.
In this message, recalling the work and sacrifices of martyrs such as Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani, Ahmad Shah Massoud, Abdul Ali Mazari, Abdul Haq, Matlab Bek, Ahmad Khan, General Abdul Raziq and thousands of other fighters, he said that the blood of these martyrs was shed for the independence and honor of Afghanistan and their memory will always be immortalized in history.
Marshal Dostum emphasized that “this shed blood has a clear message: Afghanistan must be free and independent and stand with honor among the nations of the world.” According to him, anyone who ignores the wishes of the martyrs for justice and freedom has betrayed their blood.
In another part of his speech, the leader of the National Islamic Movement Party accused the Taliban of “tyranny and coercion” and warned that no power will stand against the will of a nation.
He said that the people of Afghanistan are waiting for a government that is “responsive, responsible, and arises from the will of the nation, respects all ethnicities and religions, guarantees the rights of women and girls, and establishes social justice.”
Marshall also called on the people to make a pledge during Martyrs’ Week to “never surrender to the army of ignorance and terror” and to continue the path of the martyrs with unity and solidarity.
He called the National Islamic Movement Party’s red line “justice, equality, and the rights of women and children,” adding that there will be no compromise on these principles.
At the end of his message, Marshal Dostum emphasized: “For us, death in bed is shame, and martyrdom in the field is honor and dignity. The blood of martyrs has been shed in a legitimate battle to defend righteous ideals.”
