Panjshir families: Taliban have imprisoned our children because of the flag.

On August 15, the Taliban forcibly installed their flags on the roofs of houses and shops in the market of Rukheh district, Panjshir province.

The locals, who were unhappy with this action, took down the flags after a while; which was met with a strong reaction from the Taliban.

Local sources say that following this action, the Taliban arrested a number of shopkeepers and residents of the area and imprisoned them for several days. Among the detainees are two young men named Zarif and Atiqullah from Rukheh district, who have been in Taliban custody since then.

The families of these people have expressed concern about the fate of their children and have demanded their immediate release. According to the sources, no information has been available about the status and whereabouts of the two young men since their arrest.
