Khalid Hanafi: Welcoming a woman is against Islamic values and the Islamic law.
After the visit of Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Musnad, the Minister of State for International Cooperation of Qatar, to Kabul and her reception by Taliban officials, a new rift emerged within the Taliban regime.
The Office of Encouraging Virtue and Forbidding Vice, led by Khalid Hanafi, has strongly emphasized that “welcoming a woman is against Islamic values and the Islamic law.”
A position that shows that this administration considers itself superior to other Taliban institutions and directly interferes in their affairs.
Despite the fact that the visit of the Qatari female minister was made with the aim of sympathizing with the victims of the recent earthquake, the Taliban Foreign Ministry welcomed her by sending several high-ranking officials, including Mohammad Naeem Wardak.
However, the sharp reaction of the Amr-e-Maruf administration showed that this administration is trying to act beyond its official position and even take control of the Taliban’s foreign policy.
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting Foreign Minister, rejected the criticisms of the Amr-e-Maruf administration and said that this institution should not interfere in the diplomatic affairs of another ministry.
However, the disagreement over welcoming the Qatari delegation is a clear example of the Amr-e-Maruf administration’s attempt to impose its superiority over other members of Haibatullah Akhundzada’s cabinet;
an institution that clearly wants to take over all government affairs.
