Taliban fears after the presence of the US representative; Internet was cut off in six provinces.

Sources from different provinces of the country have reported that the Taliban have restricted or cut off fiber optic internet access in six provinces, including Balkh, Kandahar, Helmand, Herat, Uruzgan and Nimroz, in the past 24 hours.

This action comes at a time when, according to sources, citizens are facing serious problems in urban communications, administrative activities and online services.

In Herat, although the fiber optic expansion project in the 64-meter and Bakrabad areas has been stopped, internet access is still available.

However, local sources have warned that there is a possibility of a complete internet shutdown in the coming days.

The spokesman for the Taliban governor in Balkh also confirmed that, on the direct order of the Taliban leader, the state-owned Afghan Telecom fiber optic network in the province has been completely cut off.

The Taliban have justified this action on the pretext of “preventing evils.”

Political experts say that this decision by the Taliban was made just after the US special representative returned to Afghanistan and is a sign of the group’s deep fear and concern about political developments and external pressures.

Citizens believe that the Taliban are trying to weaken the information space and free access to information with such restrictions in order to prevent the true reflection of the country’s situation.
