Death to the Islamic Emirate in Kunduz

Death to the Islamic Emirate in Kunduz; Land grabbing by nomads with Taliban support sparks public anger.

Today, Thursday, September 18, residents of Pul-e-Khashti village in Ali Abad district of Kunduz province protested against the grabbing of their houses and land by nomads.

The protesters say that a group of nomads, with the support of Taliban forces, have seized people’s houses and land. They stressed that the continuation of this situation has disrupted their lives and jeopardized local security.

During the gathering, people chanted slogans including “Death to the Islamic Emirate” and demanded an end to the grabbing of their lands and houses.

They stressed that their legitimate property rights should be recognized and that the Taliban government should not pave the way for the encroachment of nomads and affiliated groups.

This is not the only case in Kunduz; In recent years, the Taliban have repeatedly been reported to have seized land from local residents in central areas such as Bamyan, as well as in the north of the country, particularly in Kunduz, Takhar, and Faryab, and to have given it to their nomads or Pashtun supporters.

This has sparked widespread resentment among local residents, with protesters saying such policies are discriminatory and pose a serious threat to social cohesion.
