Local sources: Herat’s internet has been temporarily cut off.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, local sources in Herat province reported that internet access in the city had been temporarily cut off.
According to the reports, the internet speed was first reduced and then the connection was completely cut off.
The disruption comes as Herat is one of the most important economic and commercial cities in Afghanistan.
Local sources also said that internet is likely to be restored in Herat tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 8 am.
However, this return will not include fiber optic lines. This disruption in internet access can have negative impacts on the economic, educational and communication activities of citizens in Herat.
Herat has witnessed temporary internet outages in the past. For example, in recent months, imported electricity from Turkmenistan to Herat was temporarily cut off, disrupting various services, including the internet.
