Russian media revealed details of Trump’s plan to take over Bagram.
Russian media have published new details of the new US strategy towards Afghanistan in an analytical report.
According to the report, US President Donald Trump intends to retake Bagram Air Base within the next ten months.
The US strategy is designed to once again raise the US flag over Bagram and reassert US military dominance over the base.
The Russian media report adds that this US move must be completed before the start of the US midterm election campaign; an election that is of national importance for Trump and could play a decisive role in his political position.
According to analysts, the retaking of Bagram has not only a military aspect, but also an important political message for the US both domestically and internationally and could affect Trump’s election campaign.
The report also states that since the beginning of the spring of this year, Trump’s representatives have increased their meetings with Afghan politicians in exile and leaders of various Taliban branches and groups inside and outside Afghanistan.
These measures are being taken within the framework of preparations for the retake of Bagram base and the establishment of political and military agreements with local and regional actors in order to achieve the US goals before the ten-month deadline.
