Pedram: Hazaras in Afghanistan have always been subject to genocide and discrimination.
Abdul Latif Pedram, the head of the Afghan National Congress Party, said in a message on the occasion of “Hazara Genocide Day” that this ethnic group has always been subject to oppression, discrimination and genocide throughout the history of Afghanistan.
On Thursday, 25 September 2025, he wrote on the X page (formerly Twitter) that injustice in the country is structural and that the Hazaras have been its victims most of all.
Referring to the atrocities of the era of Abdul Rahman Khan, Pedram emphasized that this part of history must be openly recounted and officially confirmed.
He noted that violence and repression against the Hazaras are not limited to the past, but have been repeated and continued in different periods.
The leader of the National Congress Party continued: “There is no seasonal genocide; discrimination and cruelty against the Hazaras have continued and will continue.”
He emphasized the need to review and clarify the historical and current dimensions of these oppressions and called for serious attention from society and human rights institutions to the situation of the Hazaras.
