Taliban recruit new soldiers from Panjshir; 400 young people were transferred to educational centers.
Local Taliban officials in Panjshir confirmed that at least 400 young men from the province had joined the group’s military ranks.
The Taliban’s media office said on Saturday, 27 September 2025, that the youths were transferred to relevant centers for military training on the orders of the Taliban’s defense ministry.
The Taliban say the move is aimed at “recruiting fresh forces” for the group’s army and police. Earlier, another 1,500 young men from Panjshir were sent to join the Taliban police and army on the orders of Taliban leader Hebatullah Akhundzada.
However, the Taliban’s continuous recruitment of Panjshir youth has raised serious concerns and questions among citizens; The province has been one of the main centers of resistance against the Taliban for the past two decades.
