Maryam Mohammadi, one of the injured in the Sayed-e-Shuhada attack, dies after four years.
Maryam Mohammadi, one of the girls injured in the bloody attack on Sayed-e-Shuhada school in western Kabul, died on Monday (6 October 2025) after four years of suffering from her injuries.
Maryam’s family said her health had deteriorated in recent months and she eventually succumbed to her injuries despite her family’s efforts to treat her.
The attack on Sayed-e-Shuhada school in 1400 was one of the deadliest attacks on female students in Afghanistan.
Dozens of children were killed and injured in the incident, which sources say was orchestrated by the Haqqani network.
Four years after the tragedy, its pain still hurts and it still claims its victims. But so far, neither the perpetrators of the attack have been identified nor has justice been served for the victims.
The families say that all they have seen from the government and the international community is silence and indifference.
