Pezzekian: Iran is ready to mediate between Pakistan and the Taliban.
Iranian President Massoud Pezzekian, in a meeting with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi, has announced that Tehran is ready for any cooperation to reduce differences between Pakistan and the Taliban.
The meeting was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) ministers.
In this meeting, Pezzekian emphasized the need for dialogue, reducing tensions, and avoiding any conflict in the region. He said that stability in relations between neighboring countries is vital for the security and development of the entire region.
In contrast, the Pakistani Interior Minister, welcoming Iran’s role in regional mediation, emphasized border cooperation and the fight against terrorism.
These talks are taking place at a time when the recent Taliban-Pakistan talks in Turkey have ended without any results after three days.
