Taraz: Taliban is responsible for preventing terrorist attacks from Afghan soil.
Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that after the establishment of a joint monitoring mechanism with the participation of third parties, the Taliban is now responsible for preventing the activities of terrorist groups on Afghan soil.
According to Geo News, these statements were made on Sunday, November 1, after Kabul and Islamabad agreed to maintain a ceasefire and establish a joint monitoring and verification mechanism for peace.
Recent talks between the two sides were held in Istanbul from October 25 to 30, mediated by Turkey and Qatar. At the end of the meeting, officials from the two countries emphasized cooperation for regional stability and reducing tensions.
Tarar said that Pakistan is committed to its principled commitments, including fighting terrorism, preventing cross-border attacks, and respecting the territorial integrity of countries. He added that Afghan soil should not be used to attack Pakistan.
According to him, the technical and operational details of the joint mechanism will be finalized in the next round of talks scheduled for November 6 in Istanbul.
These statements come at a time when relations between Kabul and Islamabad have been tense due to repeated border attacks and the activities of extremist groups since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
