Taliban Deputy Economic Minister’s Trip to Samangan a Few Days After the Earthquake.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Economic Minister of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office, traveled to Samangan a few days after a severe earthquake struck the province.
While meeting with the affected families, he expressed his sympathy and sorrow and promised that the Islamic Emirate would do its utmost to build shelters, reconstruct destroyed houses, and address the needs of the earthquake victims.
The Taliban Deputy Economic Minister also appreciated the efforts and assistance of businessmen, charitable institutions, and citizens who have stood by the affected people in these difficult circumstances, and called on international investors and charitable organizations to participate more in the relief process.
The Office of the Deputy Economic Minister has announced that some of the cash aid has also been transferred to Samangan by the accompanying delegation and is to be distributed transparently among the affected people.
The trip comes as the recent 6.3-magnitude earthquake in Samangan and neighboring provinces has killed at least 27 people and injured more than 1,140.
Reports also indicate that hundreds of houses have been destroyed in these provinces, and rescue operations ended yesterday.
