Taliban bans women from entering government offices without burqas.

Sources in Kabul say that the Taliban have decided not to allow women without burqas to enter government offices.

According to reports, on Wednesday, October 5, 2025, women without burqas were prevented from entering some offices, including the Population Registration Office, the Ministry of Education, and the Prisons Department.

In Herat province, the Taliban also prevented at least 50 women from entering the Education Department, and this decision has been implemented in other provinces as well.

According to sources, the aim of this action is to force women to wear burqas.

The Taliban’s new restrictions on government offices are part of a broader effort by the group to restrict women’s activities and presence in society.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) previously reported that women without a male guardian were denied access to health services in Kunar, Kandahar and Khost provinces, and the Taliban warned doctors not to treat female patients without a headscarf.

The Taliban’s restrictions and pressures on women’s lives and rights continue.
