UNICEF: Millions of Afghan children face severe malnutrition.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned that the nutrition crisis in Afghanistan is one of the worst in the world.
UNICEF announced on Wednesday, October 5, 2025, on the social network X that about 3.5 million children in the country are acutely malnourished and one million are severely underweight.
According to the organization, recent droughts, reduced rainfall and severe economic difficulties have left millions of families in Afghanistan unable to access enough food.
This situation has put the lives of millions of children and families at serious risk.
UNICEF and other humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that without urgent and large-scale assistance, the risk of children dying from acute malnutrition and severe underweight is increasing.
They have called for urgent cooperation from the international community to alleviate this humanitarian crisis.
