Taliban Relocates Tribal Migrants to Central Afghanistan; Istanbul Talks Reach Deadlock

Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, announced that the group has relocated a number of Pakistani tribal migrants who had been living near the Durand Line border out of fear of the Pakistani government to central regions of Afghanistan.

According to Mujahid, camps have been established for these migrants to facilitate better management and oversight of their situation.

Mujahid made these remarks on Saturday, October 8, 2025, during an online press conference, adding that the Taliban are seeking to prevent disorder and insecurity in border areas.

This announcement comes as the third round of talks between Taliban representatives and Pakistani officials in Istanbul ended without a result.

Mujahid noted that the two sides failed to reach an agreement due to a “lack of responsibility for mutual security.” Meanwhile, on Thursday, a fresh clash occurred between Pakistani border guards and Taliban fighters in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, resulting in five fatalities.

Earlier reports had also indicated that the Taliban had constructed settlements and military bases in Ghazni province for the families of TTP and Al-Qaeda fighters.
