Female Doctor Detained Following Taliban’s Burqa Order in Herat.
Local sources in Herat province report that the Taliban have, for the sixth consecutive day, prevented women without burqas from entering hospitals.
According to the sources, the measure follows a new Taliban directive requiring women to wear the burqa in all government institutions. The Taliban also detained a female doctor, identified as Shabnam Fazli, who was later released after several hours. At the same time, a number of female doctors have been forced to wear the burqa while working, with images of them circulating on social media in recent days.
Earlier, the Taliban announced that women without burqas are banned from entering all government offices in Herat province. Although Taliban officials in Kabul deny any enforcement of mandatory burqa policies, reports indicate that restrictions on women in Herat continue to expand, further tightening control over their professional and social lives.
