Reaction of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Junbish-i-Islami party) to the Removal of the Uzbek Signboard at Jowzjan University by the Taliban.

The National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Junbish-i-Islami party), led by Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, has strongly condemned the Taliban’s removal of the Uzbek word from the signboard at Jowzjan University, describing the action as racist and discriminatory.

The party stated that such acts only fuel ethnic hatred and discrimination in society and have no justification.

The statement emphasizes that the Turkic communities of Afghanistan, including Uzbeks, Turkmens, and other Turkic groups, have historically lived in peace and coexistence with other ethnic groups, preserving their language and culture as an integral part of the national identity. The Taliban’s action contradicts the historical traditions of the Afghan people and marks a shameful stain on their record.

The National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Junbish-i-Islami party) calls on all citizens not to remain silent and to unite in defending their identity and culture, pursuing their legitimate rights. The party stresses that, in time, the linguistic and cultural rights of the nation will be officially recognized, and no power can erase the identity of the Afghan people.
