Livestock Trader Killed in Jurm; Taliban Member Arrested.

Local sources in Badakhshan report that a small livestock trader from the Spinkal area of Arghanjkhwa district, who had traveled to Khistak valley in Jurm district to purchase livestock, was found dead several days after going missing. Sources say the man had gone to Khistak five days earlier and had spent one day there buying livestock.

According to reports, a Taliban member named Raz Mohammad lured the trader from Owan village to a nearby valley under the pretext of showing him livestock, and then shot him with a pistol. Sources add that after killing the man, the perpetrator took his money and fled the area. Two days later, villagers noticed groups of birds gathering in one spot and, upon searching the area, discovered the man’s body buried under stones—badly damaged by birds and wild animals.

Local sources say the Taliban member accused of the murder has been arrested in Jurm district and was transported from Khistak to Jurm tied to the back of a Ranger vehicle. Residents of Badakhshan express growing concern over rising insecurity, saying many cases of theft, murder, and crime are being carried out by individuals using Taliban uniforms, weapons, and vehicles, leaving the public feeling unsafe.
