The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Tehran will host a regional meeting in mid-December aimed at reducing tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban.

The meeting will focus on regional dialogue for crisis management and enhanced political cooperation.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, confirmed the meeting in an interview with Sputnik News and stated that all neighboring countries, including Russia and China, are expected to participate.

IRNA news agency also reported that the meeting’s agenda will focus on key regional issues and promoting stability in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implicitly confirmed the meeting. In a statement, the ministry said that Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban foreign minister, discussed the meeting yesterday in a phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
