Iran, Uzbekistan and the Taliban Establish Joint Chamber to Expand Trade.

Iranian media have reported that a joint chamber between Iran, Uzbekistan, and the Taliban administration has been established to strengthen trade relations among the three sides.

On Friday, 21 November 2025, the state broadcaster of North Khorasan Province announced that the chamber aims to increase the province’s economic exchanges with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

Pourabadi, the head of the joint chamber, stated that direct trade and communication between North Khorasan and the two countries are currently limited, and the newly established chamber can help expand cooperation, boost trade, and identify shared markets. He added that this mechanism will facilitate trilateral economic interaction.

The formation of this joint chamber comes amid escalating tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, following which Islamabad closed all trade, transit, and travel crossings with Afghanistan. The closure has significantly affected Afghan trade flows and underscored the importance of finding alternative commercial routes.
