A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the fate of regional economic projects such as TAPI, CASA-1000, and the railway depends on the Taliban’s policies in Afghanistan.

Taher Andarabi, speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, November 21, 2025, said that the reopening of border crossings and the resumption of trade between the two countries is conditional upon the Taliban ceasing support for Pakistan-opposing militant groups.

He accused the Taliban of supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), emphasizing that Islamabad will not allow trade or economic cooperation that serves as “authorization for killing Pakistanis.”

The spokesperson added that the continuation of regional projects and the development of economic relations between Islamabad and Kabul depend on a change in Taliban policies and an end to support for armed groups opposing Pakistan.
