Local sources in Kandahar have reported that Taliban “Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” officials in various parts of the province have instructed families to hand over women who “do not obey men,” allegedly for “correction.”
Residents said this oral directive has been directly communicated to several families in recent days.
Sources who spoke to the media on Monday, November 24, 2025, emphasized that Kandahar citizens consider this Taliban order “shameful” and intrusive. They warned that such directives create tension within families and could escalate social conflicts. Citizens also stated that these policies violate the private boundaries of households.
Over the past four years, the Taliban have imposed broad restrictions on women and girls, including school and university closures, limits on employment, education, and mobility. Analysts note that these measures not only infringe on women’s rights but also have serious negative consequences for Afghanistan’s social structure and future.
