Reliable sources in Pakistan report that the likelihood of reopening political offices of anti-Taliban Afghan fronts in Islamabad has increased.

According to these sources, the Pakistani government recently requested Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, and General Yasin Zia, head of the Afghanistan Freedom Front, to establish official offices in Islamabad.

Sources added that behind-the-scenes contacts between Pakistani officials and these two anti-Taliban groups have begun, and representatives from both fronts are scheduled to travel to Islamabad next month for further discussions. These developments come amid Pakistan’s growing concerns over security threats along its eastern borders.

Although neither the National Resistance Front nor the Afghanistan Freedom Front has officially confirmed this matter, signs of active diplomatic channels and new consultations are emerging. This reflects a potential shift in Pakistan’s regional approach toward the Taliban.
