Harsh Confrontation by Taliban Morality Officers with Patient and Dentist in West Kabul.
In a dental clinic in western Kabul, Taliban morality officers on Thursday forced their way inside, triggering a confrontation with a female patient, her husband, and the dentist. The officers, upon seeing a woman receiving treatment from a male dentist, accused the clinic of “moral violations” and reacted aggressively without reviewing explanations.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman suffered shock and physical distress, and both she and her husband were removed from the clinic by the officers. The dentist was threatened with closure of the clinic should he continue treating women without a male companion. Reports indicate that several clinics in Kabul have recently been threatened or sealed due to mixed-gender workplaces.
At the same time, new restrictions on female medical staff have been imposed, including bans on working alongside male colleagues and threats of arrest. These restrictions, combined with the ban on women’s medical education, have severely reduced women’s access to healthcare and worsened the shortage of female doctors.
